Stellwagen Bank is a submerged plateau in the Gulf of Maine, located
approximately 26 miles east of Boston, 6 miles north of race Point
(Provincetown), Massachusetts, and 7 miles southeast of Gloucester.
Depths for the Bank's shallowest areas are 71.5 feet, with areas of
the upper plateau recording depths close to 108 feet. The
Sanctuary encompasses approximately 638 square nautical miles.
